- Location : Ludhiana
Job Overview :
- The Knitting Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining knitting machines to produce knitted fabrics according to production specifications. The role involves ensuring the quality of the knit fabric, troubleshooting machine issues, and following safety procedures to meet production targets.
Key Responsibilities :
- Machine Operation : Set up and operate automatic and manual knitting machines. Monitor machine performance and fabric quality during production. Adjust machine settings (e.g., tension, stitches/inch, stitch type) to meet fabric specifications.
- Quality Control : Inspect knitted fabrics for defects, such as broken threads, uneven tension, or color inconsistencies. Perform regular checks to ensure that finished products meet the required quality standards. Take corrective action if quality issues are identified.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting : Conduct routine maintenance on knitting machines, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs. Troubleshoot and resolve machine malfunctions or production delays. Report major mechanical issues to the maintenance department.
- Production Monitoring : Monitor production rates to ensure output aligns with production goals. Ensure all knitted products are produced within the time frame and quality standards. Maintain accurate production records, including machine logs and inventory of raw materials.
- Safety and Compliance : Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Ensure the knitting machine is operated in accordance with company policies and health and safety regulations.
- Raw Material Handling : Ensure that the right type and quality of yarn are loaded into the knitting machines. Monitor yarn supply levels and notify supervisors of any shortages.
Skills and Qualifications :
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical training or certification in textile/knitting operations is a plus).
- Previous experience in knitting machine operation or textile manufacturing is preferred.
- Knowledge of circular knitting machines and knitting techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret production and quality control documents.
- Basic mechanical knowledge to handle machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
